Class begins with a slow warm up along with variations on sun salutations. Then moving into a slow detail oriented practice where the alignment of poses are addressed in a manner to encourage overall wellbeing and safety in the practice, as well as expression of the heart. Somatic yoga flow liberates us from layers of involuntary holding patterns and cultivates a deeper awareness and understanding of our natural state of being. Drawing on Iyengar teachings this class focus's on cultivating more strength and awareness in the body while finding proper alignment with attention to the breath. The poses are held which builds strength and increases flexibility. Props (blankets, blocks, straps...) are used to provide support and to allow the practitioner to benefit from the correct pose.
